Grading policy: The class is graded P/NP. Students must accumulate 70 points out of 100 possible in order to pass.

Points: Attendance (40), Contribution to Discussion (5), Homework (15), Project (paper, presentation) (40). There is NO Final Exam in this course.

  3. Oct. 8: Prof. Kahng will be available from 3-5pm on Tuesday, Oct. 9 if you want to discuss project choices.
  4. Oct. 8: Schedule adjustment for Tuesday, Oct. 9: Prof. Kahng will discuss the class project in Room 4140 (fourth floor of CSE building) from 11am to 12:20pm. Attendance is optional but will hopefully be useful.
  5. Oct. 9: To generate PDF from Word, you can purchase Adobe Acrobat (which will install a toolbar within all MSOffice apps, as well as a virtual printer), or you can try www.pdfonline.com.
  6. Oct. 16: For those of you that have not yet formed groups, you can either use the Facebook group or e-mail the TA.
  7. Oct. 16: The deadline for submitting the Project Initial Proposal has been extended to Saturday 10/20 at 11:59pm PST.

  13. Oct. 22: There is going to be NO meeting (graduate school mini-panel) on 10/23, since the UCSD campus will remain closed.
  14. Oct. 22: All groups have been sent an e-mail with feedback on their project proposals. Please check your e-mail.
  15. Oct. 23: Because UCSD is closed this week, Prof. Fran Berman's talk will have to be rescheduled.
  16. Oct. 29: The groups that are supposed to submit an updated project proposal, can do so using this link.
  17. Oct. 31: You can submit Homework #3 using this form. Please note: The deadline for Homework #3 has been changed to 11/6.
  18. Nov. 6: Please note that the lecture on 11/8 will take place in the CalIT-2 Auditorium (Atkinson Hall, opposite the CSE Building).

  22. Nov. 27: On Thursday 11/29 there is going to be no talk. Instead, teams will work in pairs and review each other's project report drafts. You can find the team pairings for Thursday's review here.
  23. Nov. 28: You can download the report review form here.
  24. Nov. 30: Please submit your report review feedback using this form. This is a collaborative assignment (i.e. only one per team).
  25. Nov. 30: We have updated the Resource section of the course website with resources relevant to the course project.
